Kylian Mbappe’s ability to play after injury at EURO 2024

Star Kylian Mbappe suffered a nose injury in the French team’s 1-0 victory over Austria and is still leaving the possibility of returning to play open.

Kylian Mbappe suffered a serious injury in the 1-0 victory over Austria on the morning of June 18. Mbappe broke his nose when he collided with the shoulder of Austrian defender Kevin Danso, causing blood to flow from his swollen nose, reddening part of his white shirt.

The image shows the French team captain practicing at the training center in Paderborn wearing a nose protector.

Although surgery is not needed immediately, the French team is still monitoring Mbappe’s condition and has not determined a specific time for recovery, as the key match with the Netherlands is approaching.

On Instagram, Mbappe expressed the possibility of playing the remainder of Euro 2024 after suffering a broken nose, writing: “No risks, no wins.”

Previously, Adrien Rabiot and William Saliba – two of Mbappe’s teammates in the French team – expressed positive opinions. “A broken nose is not something too serious. Kylian will return to us soon,” midfielder Adrien Rabiot said at a press conference in Paderborn.

William Saliba said he talked to Mbappe and the striker felt “everything is fine”.

French Football Federation President Philippe Diallo said it was too early to know whether Mbappe would be able to play in the remainder of the tournament, although plans were in place for him to wear a protective mask if he returned. .

Coach Didier Deschamps said Mbappe’s injury was “a big loss” but he was better the next morning. “There will be tests tomorrow to make sure we have a clear picture of the situation,” Deschamps said.

The French team opened Euro 2024 with a victory in Dusseldorf. Currently, the “Gaulois Rooster” and the Netherlands have three points after the first match in Group D.
