The forward for the Phoenix Suns, Kevin Durant, is always climbing the ladder.
With 28,596 points in Wednesday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Durant moved up to No. 8 on the NBA’s all-time scoring record, surpassing Hall of Fame center Shaquille O’Neal.

Initially outside the top 10 at the beginning of the season, Durant has already overtaken Moses Malone, Carmelo Anthony, Elvin Hayes, and Hakeem Olajuwon before tonight.
Coach Frank Vogel of the Suns hailed Durant as “one of the best to ever do it” after Durant passed Anthony for the ninth spot in late February.
Being a part of these accomplishments for him means a lot to me because he’s one of the best scorers the game has ever seen. Seeing him surpass the names he has is very remarkable, and I’m happy for him.
Durant, who was drafted second overall in the 2007 NBA Draft, has been voted a league MVP, won two NBA titles, and was chosen thirteen times for the NBA All-Star team.
Before tonight’s game, Durant had an average of 27.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game.
